Every single one of these sites was built by a team managed and led by Arron Gibson of Infinity Media Sevices Inc. IMS was selected for this task as a part of an onging contract with CanWest's Broadcast Digital division for website production. At IMS we're known for almost always reccomending that a site be built using a Content Management System (CMS) and this is no exception. While we almost always recommend WordPress (especially since the 3.0 release) in this case CanWest had an existing internal system that had to be used. This is a legacy system and it presented significant hurdles and required much out of the box thinking. The project was scoped for a tight timeline and additional hires were promised as a part of the project. While that promise was kept, it was not kept anywhere near when it was intended and when all was said and done there was a whopping 500 man hour diffence between what was scoped and what was delivered. Even with this reality the IMS led team of CanWest employees and contractors delivered on every single scoped aspect of the site, save one, weather. GlobalNews.ca was launched with a very simple weather section and the project to relaunch the weather portion, dubbed internally as "Weather 2.0", was taken out of the scheduling cue in favor of other projects. When the time came to tackle "Weather 2.0" IMS was again tasked with it's completion. The end result is a fully reimagined weather product that completely dwarfs what was originally planned.
